On this special occasion of International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate by delving into the great minds of these powerful, strong women.

“Learn to value yourself, which means: fight for your happiness.” -Ayn Rand (1905-1982) , Russian-American writer and philosopher.
Her book The Fountainhead, is a must read for every struggling architect. She can write a 10 page introduction to a character and still not be boring.

“I can only paint in India. Europe belongs to Picasso, Matisse, Braque.India belongs to me.” -Amrita Sher-Gil (1913-1941) , Hungarian-Indian painter.
Amrita Sher-Gil was a bold artist and a pioneer of modern art in India. The Government of India has declared her works as National Art Treasures.

“We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” -J.K. Rowling (1965- ), British Novelist, Philanthropist, Film Producer.
I’m sure most of you have read or know about Harry Potter. The HP series is my childhood! I grew up reading these books and must’ve read them at least 5 times over. I love Harry Potter and the magical world that Rowling has created.

“Tidying isn’t just a physical thing, it’s an emotional thing. You face things around you, and you face your inner self.” – Marie Kondo (1984- ), Japanese Organizing Consultant, Author.
Marie Kondo also has her own series on Netflix. I am currently reading this book and it is beautiful. If you really want to sort out the mess in your life, then this would be the first step.

“Promote what you love, don’t bash what you hate.” – Lilly Singh a.k.a. Superwoman (1989- ), Canadian YouTuber, Author.
Lilly Singh is a YouTuber who makes funny videos and sketches on YouTube. She has over 13 million followers and has wrote a book and has her own production company. I love her honesty and quirkiness.

“Your success will not be determined by your gender or your ethnicity, but only by the scope of your dreams” – Zaha Hadid (1950-2016 ), Iraqi-British Architect.
Zaha Hadid was a truly revolutionary architect who broke the norm of plain and rectangular and designed with curves. She is also known as the “Queen of the curves” for her iconic style.
I am inspired by their will of power and their candidness. Everyone needs such role models in their lives. A woman goes through a lot and it is important for all to recognize her love, her sacrifices. So go tell your mother, your sister, your girlfriend, your wife, or your daughter how special they are and make their day! 🙂
To all the beautiful and brave women out there I wish you a Happy Women’s Day! You matter.
